Switching to Coconut Apricot Wax

In the dynamic world of candle making, keeping up with trends and meeting customer demands is crucial. Recently, I decided to switch from soy wax to coconut apricot wax for my candle business. In this blog post, I'll share the reasons behind this transition, focusing on the shift towards eco-friendly options and the importance of transparency in ingredient choices.

Initially, like many candlemakers, I started with soy wax due to its plant-based nature and the industry's move away from paraffin wax in scented container candles. However, customer preferences and environmental consciousness led me to explore more sustainable alternatives.

Driven by customer demand for eco-friendly ingredients, I switched to coconut apricot wax—a blend of coconut, apricot, and vegetable beeswax. This change aligns with their preference for raw materials like soy, beeswax, and coconut wax, which are considered more eco-friendly than paraffin.

Coconut apricot wax offers an advantage over soy wax in terms of fragrance performance. It provides a better hot throw, ensuring a more powerful and enjoyable scent experience when the candle is burning, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Another benefit of coconut apricot wax is its reduced likelihood of coming from genetically modified sources compared to soy wax. This switch allows me to offer my customers a wax option that alleviates their concerns about genetically modified organisms while supporting a more sustainable supply chain.

To maintain transparency, I disclose that my candles and wax melts contain less than 2% of food-grade paraffin wax—the same wax used on cooking wax paper. By openly sharing this information, I empower my customers to make informed decisions based on their preferences.

We can all do our part in creating a more sustainable planet. Transitioning from soy wax to coconut apricot wax is not just a product change; it's a step towards a greener future. By adopting renewable wax options and reducing our reliance on petroleum-based products, we contribute to a more sustainable candle industry. Additionally, transparent ingredient choices allow customers to align their purchases with their values.
